China vendors shippped 145.9 mln smartphones in Q2 – 13% rise

China-based vendors shipped 145.9 million smartphones worldwide during the second quarter, rising 13 percent from the previous quarter and 22.9 percent from the year earlier, and accounting for 44.1 percent of the global total, according to Digitimes Research.

Around 58.6 million smartphones were shipped in overseas markets, up 20.7 percent sequentially and 17.7 percent year-on-year. Huawei Technologies was the largest vendor, accounting for 18.8 percent of shipments, followed by Oppo (11.5%), Vivo (9%), Xiaomi Technology (9%), TCL (5.3%), ZTE (5.3%), Lenovo (4.7%), GiONEE (4.5%), Meizu (2.5%) and Coolpad (2.1%). Huawei accounted for 21.8 percent of overseas shipments, followed by TCL (11.3%), ZTE (10.1%), Lenovo (8.2%), Oppo (6.0%), Xiaomi (3.8%), GiONEE (3.2%) and Vivo (2.4%).

In particular, overseas shipments took up 84.8 percent of TCL’s total shipments; the figures were 75.7 percent for ZTE, 70.1 percent for Lenovo and 46.6 percent for Huawei.
