Telefonica Germany CEO Thorsten Dirks will leave his role at the end of March 2017 after deciding to end his contract early.
While Dirks’ contract was due to run until September, he requested the Telefonica supervisory board vote to release him after the first quarter to “pursue new career challenges”, according to a statement from the company.
Dirks became CEO in October 2014 following the merger of Telefonica Germany and the E-Plus Group.
The supervisory board confirmed it would formulate a succession plan and thanked Dirks for his “successful further development of the company”. Dirks will work with the management board to ensure a smooth transition, the statement from Telefonica said.
